FUEL - Friday Evening Youth Group
Fridays, 7pm-8.30pm, for school years 7 to 9+
For most, FUEL will act as their first contact with the Christian faith. As people arrive, we have some time for a bit of a catch-up in the cafe area. We have plenty of organised games/activities around a different theme each week, including a brief discussion around the theme, and finish off with some social time (including a Tuck Shop, Wii, table-top games, & sports in the Hall).
Cost: £1 subs on entry
FUEL:Sundays - Sunday Morning Youth Church
Sundays, 9.30am-10.30am, for school years 7 to 9+
Whether you've been dragged along, or you've done the dragging, join us at FUEL:Sundays for a light breakfast (served from 9:15) and Youth Church on a Sunday morning while the main service is on. Together we will experience what church is, whilst keeping it youth-centric. We join the main service for worship at 9:30, then head off to explore the week's theme through reading the Bible, discussions, and prayer.
FUEL Small Group - Sunday Evening Youth Small Group
Sundays, 6pm-7pm, for school years 10 to 13
Want to be a part of a community where you can be built up and encouraged by your peers going through the same season of life (exams, career choices, further education, etc.)? Want to find God through the storms of life, as well as gleaning wisdom from some more mature members of the church? Then this group will aim to meet those needs.
This weekly group meets in Cedar (the room at the back of church). It'll finish in time to join with the 7pm service, but there's no obligation to stay on for the service each week (sometimes that homework will need doing before Monday morning), perhaps you might only want to stay for the worship, or the whole thing? - It's an invitation, not an obligation.
You need only register once to access any of these groups.
ALL YOUNG PEOPLE ATTENDING FUEL MUST HAVE COMPLETED A FORM:
If you are a member of our church and log-in, the form will pre-populate most of the information.
FAQs
Which group(s) can I attend?
We'd love for you to attend as many of the groups you can/want to, so you're invited to come along to them all, but there are a few restrictions. We'd love for you to attend as many of the groups you can/want to, so you're invited to come along to them all, but there are a few restrictions. FUEL on Fridays is like a typical church Youth Group - lots of fun, with a bit of teaching, aimed at school years 7 to 9, so those who are a little older are still welcome to attend, but might find it less appealing. FUEL:Sundays is aimed at reaching a broad spectrum of young people; it is light-hearted enough to appeal to young people from Year 7, but deep enough to meet the needs of older youth. The FUEL Small Group is specifically designed for the older young people (school years 10-13) going through their exams, looking at Universities or employment, and preparing for their independence.
Why do you charge on a Friday?
Charging subs on a Friday night has always been a tricky decision. We know that prices keep going up and we don't want to burden families with the added costs of paying to attend church-based activities. However, your £1 goes straight back into resourcing the youth work at St. Mary's & Sale West by buying new/replacing equipment and resources, and subsidising costs for special events and trips out etc. We don't want you to feel like you have to miss out because you can't afford to pay each week, so if you think that you'd struggle to pay please get your parent(s) or guardian(s) to get in touch with us beforehand so that there's no confusion/embarrassment at the door. FUEL:Sundays and FUEL Small Group, however, are completely free.
If I miss a week, or a few, does it matter?
No. There's a level of continuity if you come regularly, and we think you'll get the most out of the sessions (as well as have fun hanging out with your friends regularly!) that way, but if you have other commitments we understand. You will be missed, but you will also be welcomed back whenever you can make it.
