2018 Market Logo - CirclularIt’s only October but already the planning team for the Christmas Market have got well underway. Last year’s event was an incredible success, with more people than ever coming through the doors and more money than ever raised for a range of amazing charities. And we’ve a lot to live up to this year… who can forget the cosy welcome of the roaring fireplace when you arrived, the beautiful music filling the church with festive tones and the quiet peace of Narnia waiting just through the wardrobe doors? And not only was it a fun day out for all the family, we raised over £7500 which supported twelve charities working all over the world.
As always, an event on this scale would not be possible without the 140+ volunteers and helpers that so generously give their time. We have teams working on setting up the event the day before, volunteers manning stalls on the day and people who help us pack up and return the church and centre back to normal at record speed! If you are new to the church, getting involved is a great way to meet other church members and get to know people and we would love to chat to you about how you can help. If you are interested and could spare a couple of hours (or more!) on Saturday 24th November to help we would love to hear from you. Please sign up on the church noticeboard in the foyer or visit www.stmarysaom.org/ChristmasMarket.
bottlesAnd don’t forget, if you are unable to offer any time to the event you can help in other ways. We are looking for donations of chocolate items of any shape and size (chocolate bars, Kinder eggs, chocolate sauce, boxes of chocolate etc.), anything in a bottle (fizzy drinks, water, alcohol, ketchup, shampoo…) and good-as-new items. Last year we used over 500 items across the Bottlebola and the Chocolate Tombola and both still sold out! The Good-as-New stall is also one of our biggest earners so your donations really do make a huge difference. Please do raid your cupboards for those unwanted gifts, have a clear-out and drop your good-as-new items off, and add bottles and chocolates to your shopping lists. Let’s see this year’s market the best yet!
