THE LIGHT PARTY THAT ROCKED!

light party

On 31st October St Mary’s joined forces with LifeChurch to host our biggest-ever Light Party. A week before the event we were anticipating over 100 people and were extremely blessed to welcome 250 children and their families on the night.

The chancel and church dazzled with multi-coloured disco lights as the children (and some adults!) showed off their best moves in the silent disco. At the back of church there were craft tables where the children could make rock star microphones, decorate their light jars, colour in or just use the space to chill out and build Lego.

Claire Harvey and her catering team did an absolutely amazing job serving drinks, refreshments and hot dogs from the café area.

The main hall was transformed into the games zone, with a bouncy castle, inflatable football game and glow-in-the-dark pumpkin bowling, which was so popular that most of the pumpkins had exploded by the end of the evening! It was such a busy, happy evening having lots of fun and celebrating God’s light.

So whether you welcomed, baked, cooked, moved chairs, rolled pumpkins, controlled the crazy bouncy castle, managed the silent disco, served refreshments, cleaned the floors, painted faces, gave out sweets, helped with the lighting/tech and generally just smiled and were lovely to people... can we say a huge “thank you” from both churches! It was a truly amazing effort and we are ever so blessed to be able to work together to put on big scale events for the church and local community.

On the night someone said that they were really struck by how the volunteers at the event came together as a family and worked together. What a fantastic testimony of how we can show God's light and be a light to others.

Looking forward to next year already!
