REFLECTION AND LOOKING FORWARD

JONNYThere are a lot of moments where God takes you on a journey that’s unexpected. The first time I travelled up Moss Lane and stepped through the doors into the church centre, I never imagined I would spend almost 9 years ministering here. I had originally come to meet with Jane Beaumont for prayer ministry, along with my mentor at the time.

St Mary’s and Sale West is a special place for me. Not only is it family, which is always the case when a church is reflecting God’s purpose for it, but it’s where so much of my own personal journey with Christ has been played out. The part I’ve played in ministry with young people here has only been possible because of those of you who also serve young people alongside me. And the part that has been uniquely mine to play has increasingly been born out of my own discoveries with God. The kind of life with God I have been discipled into by a number of you has been a most remarkable discovery for me. It truly is the fullest kind of life.

There are too many individual people to mention and thank here, but many of you have shaped what our young people now experience at Fuel, the Cave, and work in Ashton School. I do want to honour the staff I’ve served alongside and especially the leadership of Steve and Jane. It has been an incredible ride working with godly and passionate people willing to step into what God calls us to!

My prayer for St Mary’s and Sale West is that it will continue to become ever more radiant - known to all who are seeking that church is where you can find healing, hope, freedom and life to the full: that this is a place you can find God!

I am now stepping into a new and surprising season of ministry beginning with a mission trip to Bangladesh with Tearfund for three months. Tearfund’s work there focuses on building the resilience of local communities through youth and children’s groups, training and development through the local church, particularly in responding to a changing climate. I will be leading a team of young adults and am excited to invest in them and discover with them what the Father is doing and how we can join in. For any of you who know me well you’ll also appreciate I’m looking forward to working somewhere with warmer weather!

Following that, I am currently exploring the next steps but don’t know where I’ll end up. Thankfully God does, but I’d be grateful for your ongoing prayer through this season as I leave behind a place and people I love and step into the unknown. I’ll be giving out some prayer cards before I go and you can also find info and pray for what God is up to in my life by following my journey online at adventures-with-God.org
