HOPE FOR JUSTICE

Hope for Justice Freedom Wall

Hope for Justice is a charity working to bring an end to modern slavery and human trafficking, and to protect the human rights of victims and survivors.

Its model is based on four pillars: preventing exploitation; rescuing victims; restoring lives; and reforming society. Founded in the UK in 2008, Hope for Justice has grown to become an international organisation with programmes across five continents.

The charity works directly with victims and survivors in the UK and around the world while also campaigning for long-term change for them through its work with governments, police, businesses and the public. It has a vision is to live in a world free from slavery.

What is modern slavery?

Modern slavery is where one person controls another for profit by exploiting a vulnerability. Usually the victim is forced to work or is sexually exploited, and the trafficker keeps all or nearly all of the money. The control can be physical/violent, financial or psychological and it extends to where they live and who they see.

Modern slavery is happening in our communities – being able to spot the signs and know what to do could make a life-changing difference. You might walk past or speak to someone who needs help without you even realising it. Help spread the word about the signs to look out for: www.hopeforjustice.org/signs

If you want to ensure more victims are rescued and get the support they need, you can support Hope for Justice’s work with a donation. Find out how your gift could help, and the huge varieties of ways you can get involved with the charity’s work, at: www.hopeforjustice.org

  • Police say Hope for Justice was “instrumental” in bringing down the UK’s largest trafficking ring, which exploited up to 400 people in modern slavery. The gang is now in prison.
  • The oldest person the charity has freed from modern slavery was in their 60s, and another had been trapped in domestic slavery for 37 years. The youngest was just 3 months old.

1) Please pray for a young male survivor who is in custody, charged with cannabis cultivation. We believe this is in relation to re-exploitation and that he is in fact a victim of modern slavery, so we are working to ensure he has access to legal advice. Please pray for wisdom for our team as we seek to gain more information and liaise with police and other professionals. Please also pray for peace for the survivor at this difficult time.

2) Our US team are asking for prayers for an endangered teenager called Danielle who has been missing for two months. They seek prayers for her family and for her safe recovery as our investigators follow every lead they can to find Danielle and safeguard her from human traffickers.
