Plastic Free July
Written by Louise on behalf of the Creation Care Steering Group
I’m sure it’s no secret to you, that the everyday items we use, often only for a few moments, are polluting our oceans and posing a threat to our planet and human health.
It’s a big challenge but, through Plastic Free July, when lots of people take small steps at the same time to reduce plastic waste at home, work and in the community by refusing, reusing and refilling, together we can be part of the solution to plastic pollution. As the plastic pollution issue grows and governments worldwide gather to negotiate a global plastics treaty, there has never been a more urgent time to take action.
Plastic Free July is a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution - so we can have cleaner streets, oceans and beautiful communities.
Just imagine a world where we no longer have access to clean waterways and oceans because they’ve choked on plastic pollution. Can you picture a world without the wildlife that should be living in those waterways and oceans?
They’re tough images to imagine and the impact plastic waste is having on our world is heart-breaking, but that’s the problem we’ll be increasingly facing unless we act now. We can’t recycle our way out of this. We need to turn plastic waste off at the tap.
Will you be part of Plastic Free July by choosing to refuse single-use plastics?
Below is the link to the website where you can take a plastics challenge and find out lots of ways you can make small changes to reduce your plastic consumption.
