CHRISTMAS 2018

Christmas services postcardOur Christmas Services publicity is now ready to go out into our community, inviting people to come and hear about the peace that God offers even in unsettled times.  As the Angels declared:

‘Peace on Earth and
goodwill to all people’

This year there have been a few changes to our Christmas services pattern.  As a church that values the power of invitation, we have made the decision to step out and go for 3 carol services this year at St Mary’s on Sunday 16th December.  Each carol service will have its own style and flavour, offering something for everyone.  With the increase in services, we can be certain there are plenty of seats to accommodate all of our guests, helping you to confidently invite your friends to a service you know is appropriate for them.

9.30am – Family Carol Service
Julie and Steve will be leading this all-age family-friendly carol service which will include a junior choir, live nativity scene, familiar carols, a prayer activity and an all-age message.  Junior choir rehearsals will take place during junior church on 2nd & 9th December so make sure you don’t miss it.

11.15am – Traditional Carol Service
Brian will be leading this traditional carol service including readings, well-known carols and 2 presentation songs performed by a singing group.

7pm – Contemporary Carol Service
Jane and the 7pm creative team have planned a contemporary carol service, using a mixture of lighting, sound and media to enhance the sense of Christmas. The music will be a variety of modern and traditional carols.

Mince pies and drinks will be served after each service!

We have also made some changes to the Christingle services.  With so many people coming along to our Christingles at St Mary’s we will once again be having 3 identical services; however, this year they will take place at 2.30pm, 3.45pm and 5pm, each lasting for 45 minutes.  We hope that by starting the services a little earlier, those with younger children will still be able to enjoy their evening together as they prepare for the big day!

Invitation postcards for all the services, including the Carol Service at Sale West and the Midnight service and Christmas Day services at St Mary’s, are now available in church.  And if you are on Facebook, please look out for the church posts and make sure you like, share and invite your friends along.
