HEARTBEAT CAFE

JayneOct2013The Heartbeat Café opened at the end of March 2009 after a year of planning.

I started with a team of 24 volunteers (who worked one session a month) in this big new venture for the church. We were all excited to see how it would be received.

This year the Café celebrates its 10th Birthday which is fantastic.

Over the years we have had a total of 34 people
volunteering but the number of late has dwindled to ten and six of these have been there since the beginning!

We have lived through many occasions: births, engagements, weddings and sadly deaths with our customers.

They come from all walks of life - Christians and non-Christians and from other churches who join in with many of our groups and courses.

As well as Heather Day Care we also welcome classes from Pictor Academy for children with special educational needs. They appreciate the safe environment where the children can learn by ordering and paying for their orders.

I have decided that the time has come for me to retire and so I shall be finishing at the end of March. Ten years have flown by and I have loved being involved with the café and getting to know so many people.

It has been a joy and privilege to work with all the volunteers and I want to thank them for their gracious serving hearts.

Thanks also to those who had the vision for the café all those years ago.

And lastly I would like to say a special thanks to those who have passed through the café and hopefully have felt God’s love through a cup of tea or coffee.

Please continue supporting this wonderful ministry and pray that it can keep growing.

Jayne Thurston
