FIRST IMPRESSIONS FROM EMMA

Emma
1. How long have you been coming to Sale West Community Church?

Since March 2019.

2. What brought you to church?
Something told me to go to church! One Sunday morning I got dressed and walked my dog, then, I just felt prompted to go to church, so I went.

3. What were your first impressions?
It was laid back compared to when I went to a Catholic church when I was younger. Everyone was really welcoming. I knew nobody and being welcomed was refreshing and made me feel at home. It felt right to be there.

4. What in particular has inspired you about the church?
There are a few things:

  • Going on the Faith Matters course has been a big help. Any questions I had got answered, which gave me a starting point in my journey of faith.
  • I can often relate to sermons; they speak to me about my own situation.
  • I went to New Wine with a number of people from St Mary’s and Sale West churches. Wow! That was amazing! I don’t know where to start! It was overwhelming, emotional and exciting. Two people prayed for my stomach as I was in pain with a problem I’ve had for a while. I was healed - the pain left immediately. I then gave testimony on stage in front of thousands of people! I feel so free now when I worship – I am happy to worship with my hands in the air regardless of who is watching!

5. What are you currently involved in and why those particular things?
Faith Matters follow-on. It’s important for my journey. I struggle to sit and read the bible, so this really helps me. It’s also great to get other people’s opinions.

I am also involved in Junior Church at Sale West. I love working with children and it’s inspiring to see how excited the children are talking about their faith.
